Internal rotation

37.5 hours / week

We are looking for experienced critical care nurses to join our busy adult intensive care/high dependency units.

Main duties of the job

You will need at least three years’ experience in critical care
and able to demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge.You will be expected to take an active role in helping us to continuously improve patient care. Excellent communication skills are essential and a proven ability to support and mentor staff.

Qualifications and knowledge

Essential criteria

1. Registered Nurse (RN) with current NMC registration
2. ENB 100 or equivalent critical care course at academic level

Desirable criteria

3. Recognised teaching and assessing qualification

Experience

Essential criteria

4. Recent experience in critical care with evidence of practice within the past year
5. Demonstrates advanced clinical knowledge in critical care, applying evidence-based practice, recognizing patient deterioration, and guiding clinical decision-making.
6. Evidence of mentoring and development of staff
7. Extensive experience in critical care nursing.

Desirable criteria

8. Substantial clinical experience following completion of an adult critical care course, applying advanced skills and knowledge in the assessment, monitoring, and management of critically ill patients in a high-acuity setting.

9. Be able to interpret clinical data and initiate action as required
10. To appraise the service and make suggestions for improvement
11. Ability to demonstrate problem solving skills
12. Able to provide effective feedback
13. Skilled in gathering, analysing, and interpreting clinical information to support team discussions and clinical decision making

Desirable criteria

14. Proficient in Microsoft Office, electronic health records, data entry, and digital communication tools

15. Patient focused – committed to ensuring a positive hospital experience for patients and the relatives/carers

17. Strong understanding of critical care, including patient assessment, monitoring, interventions in high-acuity settings, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Specific requirements

23. The post involves internal rotation from long days to nights.
24. The role requires working within a designated area at an individual bed space which may be restricted by equipment. The post holder will need to be able to respond quickly to emergency
