Role Overview As a Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for supervising engineering operations, driving technical performance, and ensuring compliance across all building services systems.
You will play a key role in:
: Leading engineering teams and developing technical capability
: Maintaining system reliability, uptime, and asset performance
: Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety and operational standards
: Acting as a technical authority within a live operational environment
This role includes HVAP responsibilities where required and offers exposure to complex electrical and mechanical infrastructure within a critical facilities setting.
Key Responsibilities Leadership and Team Management
: Lead, mentor, and develop Engineering Technicians
: Build and maintain a high:performing and collaborative team culture
: Set clear objectives, KPIs, and performance expectations
: Conduct coaching, mentoring, and performance reviews
: Support succession planning and professional development
Operational and Technical Delivery
: Oversee the operation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical building services systems
: Act as High Voltage Authorised Person (HVAP) where required
: Carry out plant inspections, audits, and technical reviews
: Ensure delivery of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities
: Maintain system reliability, uptime, and asset performance across site infrastructure
Compliance and Risk Management
: Ensure compliance with SLAs, KPIs, and client contractual requirements
: Promote and enforce Health and Safety legislation and Safe Systems of Work
: Oversee Permit to Work (PTW), RAMS, and operational risk management processes
: Identify and mitigate operational risks to prevent service disruption
: Maintain high standards of engineering governance and compliance
Procedures, Training and Continuous Improvement
: Support development and implementation of SOPs and EOPs
: Deliver technical training and mentoring to engineering teams
: Drive continuous improvement initiatives across site operations
: Identify opportunities for efficiency, reliability, and service enhancement
Vendor and Stakeholder Management
: Manage and coordinate subcontractors and service providers
: Ensure external vendors meet required safety, quality, and performance standards
: Act as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders
: Support delivery of a high:quality technical service and workplace experience
Skills and Experience Required Essential
: NVQ Level 3 / City and Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
: 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
: Current HV Authorised Person (HVAP) status
: City and Guilds 2360 Parts 1 and 2 (or equivalent)
: L8 Water Hygiene / Legionella Awareness
: Strong technical knowledge of:
: Electrical systems (LV/HV)
: Mechanical and building services systems
: Evaporative cooling systems and Legionella control
: Proven experience in building services, facilities management, or critical environments
: Strong understanding of Healt
