Job Description:
Calls can come at any time, so there is a core shift pattern which covers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our Communications Operators answer emergency and non-emergency calls and direct resources across the County.
As part of the team, you’ll receive extensive training and on-the-job support to prepare you for the challenging variety of calls and roles ahead.
Regardless of call type, your compassion, patience, and professionalism must remain. You will need to think on your feet, provide reassurance, and gather relevant information to enable the correct deployment of police responses as necessary.
In return, we offer an attractive salary and a busy operational role where you can play a key part in protecting the public from harm.
The starting salary for this role, including shift allowance, is £34,329, increasing to £40,893 after 3 years.
The application process involves submitting an application form, an assessment (including a typing test), and an interview if successful at assessment. We are recruiting for a pool of candidates for intakes over the next six to twelve months.
As part of your application, you will need to answer the following questions in 200 words each:
* What attracted you to becoming a Communications Operator with Hertfordshire Constabulary?
* What personal qualities, values, skills, and knowledge do you possess that support you in this role? (e.g., integrity, IT skills, customer service, problem solving, etc.)
* If successful, what duties do you expect to carry out as a Communications Operator?
Applications will be shortlisted on a weekly basis.
