Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a leading contractor on major civil engineering and infrastructure projects. You will play a key role in managing all commercial aspects of your designated project section, working closely with the Senior QS and wider project team to ensure cost control, value management, and successful delivery.
Depending on project size and scope, you may take full responsibility for schemes, reporting to a Senior or Managing QS.
Key Responsibilities
*
Manage cost control, forecasting, and value reporting for allocated projects.
*
Lead procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance and maximising commercial returns.
*
Monitor and improve project cash flow.
*
Support and mentor junior surveyors and commercial staff.
*
Provide contractual and commercial advice to the project team, ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
*
Manage subcontractor accounts, payments, and final settlements.
*
Prepare and present monthly valuations, reports, and forecasts.
*
Maintain accurate site records, variations, and commercial documentation.
*
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
*
Contribute to risk management, scope reviews, and cost-saving initiatives.
*
Support health, safety, environmental, and quality compliance across the project.
*
Participate in post-contract reviews and ensure timely resolution of final accounts.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
*
Degree or accredited qualification in Quantity Surveying (RICS, CIOB, ICES or equivalent).
*
Previous experience as an Assistant QS / QS within construction, infrastructure, or civils.
*
Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
*
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
*
Ability to manage multiple subcontract packages and work to deadlines.
Desirable:
*
Degree in Quantity Surveying with significant industry experience.
*
Experience on civil engineering or infrastructure frameworks.

Strong communicator and relationship builder.

Commercially astute with business awareness.
*
Proactive, self-motivated, and able to use initiative.
*
Effective under pressure, with excellent organisational skills.
*
Knowledge of construction management and sustainable construction techniques.
