Curatorial E Collection and Outreach Officer

CPL have partnered with Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) to recruit for a Curatorial

E Collection and Outreach Officer (SO Grade) to join their team on a temporary contract,

with possibility of extension.

· Pay Rate - £18.48 per/hr

· Location – DfC HED Heritage Records and Designation Branch

· Benefits – 37 days holiday per annum

· Hours – 37 hours per week

Responsibilities will include:

This is a temporary Curatorial E Archaeologist post within the Historic Environment Division. The post will cover a range of duties, working as part of a team, and providing support to HED staff.

1.Contributing to the review, maintenance and updating of HED’s excavation archives. Under supervision.

- Sorting, cleaning, and cataloguing archaeological artefacts for permanent preservation.

- Undertaking research and identifying excavation material.

-Reviewing loans to external bodies, involving the assessment and updating of paperwork.

2. Contributing to the promotion of the Historic Environment Record of Northern Ireland (HERoNI)

- Undertaking various outreach activities targeting historical societies and other relevant heritage groups

- Creating record specific travelling outreach displays

- Research and design of upcoming exhibitions

Essential Experience/Qualifications

·A degree or MA in the following subjects Culture heritage Museums studies or Archaeology

·A full driving licence, valid for Northern Ireland, and access to a form of transport that will enable them to carry out the duties of the post in

full.

Desired Experience/Qualifications

At least 1 years post graduate experience. This includes, but is not limited to:

§Experience cataloguing collections

§Experience researching collections

§Experience planning exhibitions

§Experience working with the public for outreach purposes

Relevant or Equivalent Qualifications

Applications will also be considered from applicants with relevant formal qualifications considered to be of an equivalent or higher standard to those stated.
