About the team
We’re seeking a diverse Engineering Manager to join our Delivery and Transport team, which manages last mile delivery for our General Merchandise operations.
This role offers the chance to contribute to a strategic roadmap including migrating to a new SaaS-based routing platform, building a carrier aggregator, and enhancing routing and delivery applications.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience, a background in engineering—especially within retail—and hands-on knowledge of technologies such as Java, AWS, Kafka, and order management systems.
What you'll do
* Lead and enable the delivery of technology solutions that create value, improve efficiency, and boost performance.
* Manage and guide a multi-skilled engineering team, ensuring they have the resources and skills needed to deliver end-to-end technical solutions.
* Mentor and coach team members, recruit diverse talent, and promote a culture of collaboration, learning, and respect.
* Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers to define product visions and technical directions, manage multiple deliveries, and take end-to-end ownership including change and service management.
* Drive development of new features, promote best engineering practices, and advocate for agile/lean methodologies.
* Manage budgets at the initiative level, ensure compliance with processes and standards, and foster a culture of excellence and inclusivity.
Who you are
* A passionate, experienced engineering leader with deep understanding of engineering practices and talent for coaching and development.
* Technologically adept, leading by example and inspiring colleagues, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
* Strong technical expertise with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple large-scale platform deliveries.
* Capable of making informed technical decisions, implementing best practices, and managing Capex and Opex.
* Excellent leadership and communication skills, able to build relationships at all levels and contribute to a diverse, inclusive culture.
