Business Development Lead
Location: Hybrid / Remote
Reports to: Managing Director
Department: Business Development & Sales
Type: Full-Time or Part-Time (negotiable hours)
Role Overview
The Business Development Lead will help identify and win new business to support the company's growth. This is a hands-on, client-facing role for someone who enjoys building relationships, opening doors, and turning opportunities into results. You'll work closely with the Managing Director and wider team to grow our customer base across key sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Growth & Pipeline Management
* Develop and deliver business development activities to support growth across target sectors
* Identify and qualify high-value opportunities through market research, networking and initiatives
* Build and manage a strong, sustainable sales pipeline with accurate forecasting and reporting.
Relationship Management
* Establish and grow relationships with key decision-makers, stakeholders, and industry influencers.
* Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings.
Internal Collaboration
* Work closely with marketing, product, and delivery teams to align offerings with market demand.
* Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to inform product/service innovation.
* Should be flexible in role and comfortable being involved in completion of PQQ, AVL, estimates & proposals
Key KPIs & Metrics
* Growth in new client opportunities
* Pipeline activity and conversion
* Contribution to revenue growth
Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
* Proven experience in B2B business development, sales, or partnerships
* Established and mature customer network
* Proven track record of meeting/exceeding targets in high-value deals
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
* Comfortable working independently in a small, agile team where flexibility is key
Desirable:
* Background in the traditional energy sector, with exposure to nuclear, defence, renewables, CCUS, or infrastructure viewed favourably
* Familiarity with CRM tools
* Strategic mindset with strong commercial instincts
* Degree in Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
