We are currently recruiting for a Support Worker (Nights) post (36 hrs) at our Crosby House on a permanent full-time basis. Join our dynamic team to provide a professional, caring, and effective service to our service users, ensuring they receive the best care.
Hours: 36 hours per week (Prior Experience in Lone Working and Night Shift Working in the UK is essential.)
Rota: Working to a 7-day rota - 7.30pm-7.30am
Salary/Rate: £12.81 per hour
About the role:
As a Support/Care Worker at this busy service, you will contribute to providing an integrated, inclusive, and quality service designed to meet the care, social, and educational needs of the service users at Crosby House. You will aim to achieve the best outcomes for them while supporting the full implementation of the 24-hour curriculum, in accordance with statutory & VSA standards, policies, and regulatory requirements, and monitoring staffing resources effectively.
Responsibilities of our Support/Care Worker include:
* Communicating effectively on difficult, complex, and sensitive issues. Supporting individuals appropriately, especially where specific communication needs are identified.
* Updating and maintaining records and reports according to statutory and organizational procedures.
* Promoting, monitoring, and maintaining health, safety, and security, including medication administration. Minimizing risks from emergencies and ensuring safety for service users, colleagues, and self. Following policies on child protection and supporting service users in maximizing self-care skills.
* Promoting the well-being and protection of service users, respecting their rights and responsibilities, and supporting them to express their views about their health and well-being.
* Protecting service users from abuse, identifying possible abuse, handling disclosures, and reporting according to policies. Providing support to students who may have been abused.
* Ensuring the physical environment is clean and comfortable, supporting physical care needs such as toileting.
* Waking Night staff should stay awake and alert throughout their shift to ensure the safety and care of service users.
* Night staff are responsible for supporting service users with specific health needs during the night, including monitoring medical conditions like epilepsy and diabetes, and acting appropriately based on training.
* Performing any other reasonable duties within your capabilities.
What we are looking for in our Support/Care Worker:
* Willingness and ability to attain an SCQF Level 6 qualification.
* Practical experience working with older people.
* An understanding of issues related to older people's needs.
* Night staff should have experience of lone working.
