The Role - Mental Health Support Assistant
As a Mental Health Support Assistant in Stroud, you will:
Provide 1:1 and small group support focused on emotional regulation and wellbeing
Support individuals with SEMH needs, trauma, anxiety, and behavioural challenges
Use de-escalation techniques, positive behaviour support, and trauma-informed approaches
Help create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN teams, and external professionals
Encourage independence, resilience, and positive coping strategiesWhat We're Looking For
To succeed as a Mental Health Support Assistant in Stroud, you will have:
A patient, empathetic, and emotionally resilient approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
A genuine interest in mental health, SEMH, and SEN
Understanding of trauma-informed practice and behaviour support (desirable)
