As a Power Risk Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful placement of insurance within the Power industry. Your responsibilities will include conducting standard risk engineering surveys at client facilities, which typically involve a 2-3 day visit, interviews with key management teams, and site tours. The output of these surveys will be an engineering report detailing the site operations, analysis of Loss Prevention/Mitigation features, ranking of the quality of the site, and recommendations for improvement.
The position also involves carrying out risk assessments of operational power plants and reviews of new projects. Additionally, you will support the Power Broking team in placing risks in international insurance markets and manage and develop the re: Engineering Management System.
To excel in this role, you will need to have a sound working knowledge of power industry technologies and construction management. You should also be familiar with work execution methods and project management principles. Furthermore, exposure to risk-assessed driven decision-making is essential, as is IT literacy including general office systems such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Candidates with a strong background in Operations / Maintenance / Technical Functions in a Thermal / Hydro power plant are highly sought after. A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is a must, and chartered status would be a significant advantage. Additionally, candidates with experience in both Thermal and Hydro power plants will be considered favorably.
Travel requirements include a combination of Europe and South America, with approximately 70-90 days per year spent on the road. Spanish and English fluency are essential, and other beneficial skills and experience include excellent communication skills, ability to develop and maintain client relationships, and proficiency in company-sanctioned software and systems.
