Are you looking for a new challenge and interested in extending your knowledge and skills in the dietetically focused area of gastroenterology? We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic Dietitian with excellent communication and team working skills to join our friendly and dynamic Nutrition and Dietetic Department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust as a Specialist Gastroenterology Dietitian (Band 6) on a full‑time basis. The position is based primarily at St James’s University Hospital with the possibility of covering other clinical areas and sites. Successful candidates will be supported by a gastroenterology dietetic team with a great skill mix and will develop the knowledge and skills required to provide care to both inpatient and outpatient services for a wide range of gastrointestinal diseases.
Responsibilities
* Deliver specialist, evidence‑based dietetic care across acute inpatient and outpatient services.
* Support patients with gastrointestinal conditions, including:
o Inflammatory bowel disease
o Coeliac disease
o Irritable bowel syndrome
o Alcoholic liver disease
o Eating disorders
* Undertake comprehensive clinical and dietary assessments to identify nutritional diagnoses.
* Develop and implement individualised, patient‑centred treatment plans.
* Educate patients, carers and healthcare professionals on therapeutic diets and nutrition support in gastrointestinal conditions.
* Contribute to service development, quality improvement and professional practice across the Dietetic Department and Renal Services.
Qualifications
* HCPC Registered Dietitian (registration number required).
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Membership of the British Dietetic Association (desirable).
Experience & Skills
* Experience working as a dietitian within a healthcare setting (NHS hospital experience desirable).
* Demonstrated understanding of the specialist area of gastroenterology (desirable).
* Good team‑working skills.
* Care and compassion when working with others.
* Ability to provide examples of innovative practice using own initiative.
* Good workload management and organisational skills.
* Experience developing and delivering education or training.
* Motivational interviewing skills.
