Purpose of the role:
We are investing in the growth of our project management capability, it’s an exciting time to join the team as we strive to successfully support our people in delivering critical projects as part of the McLaren Racing portfolio.
In this role, you will work as a Project Manager as part of the PMO team striving to deliver project success across McLaren Racing. As part of the PMO you’ll help manage projects from scoping to delivery across all areas of the business. This role will support a variety of projects across both our Commercial and core Business Performance functions with an initial focus primarily on Commercial and Marketing projects. The commercial and marketing teams are responsible for funding our race teams through partnerships, licensing and the growth of our brand and fanbase. Whilst our Business Performance teams such as, finance, legal and IT are foundational to the smooth and strategic operation of our business.
As a successful Project Manager, you will help implement PMO methodologies, ensure project standards are followed, and assist with communication across stakeholders with an initial focus on the commercial department. You will support project execution, help manage project tasks, contribute to risk identification, and assist in creating project reports. You will mentor and oversee a team and contribute to a well-organised and high performing PMO.
Role Dimensions
This role sits in the Programme Management Office within the Business Performance function and has two direct reports. You will collaborate extensively with senior leaders, project members, and cross functional teams.
Principal Accountabilities
* Manage projects from conception to closure, ensuring milestones are met on target by closely monitoring progress and ensuring quality standards.
* Manage the project pipeline for commercial and business performance, supporting directly on major projects.
* Proactively nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders across all levels of the business. Support the implementation of PMO process improvements and changes, ensuring clear communication, updates, and addressing stakeholder queries.
* Manage and develop a team of two, contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment by role modelling our values and behaviours.
* Assist in conducting project scoping and feasibility. Contribute to development of project proposals and business cases.
* Tracking of project financial performance to budget, reporting any variances to the Head of PMO.
* Assist in managing communication with internal and external stakeholders and supporting resolution of any concerns.
* Manage and escalate any project risks/issues to the Head of PMO as required.
* Support the Head of PMO in the development and roll out of new Programme/Project governance frameworks, with a focus on the commercial department.
* Work closely with the Project Administrator across all projects, using time effectively to ensure all requirements are covered for all projects involved in.
Job requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Experience

* Robust Project Management experience
* APM PPQ or PMQ/ equivalent qualification
* Proficient in Project management tools
* Experience of conducting project feasibility
* Ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders across all levels of the business
* Experience delivering commercial and marketing projects, with a solid understanding of the needs of a commercial department
* Experience managing projects in areas such as sponsorship, licensing, martech, digital market, brand experience and/or creative services an advantage

McLaren Racing is based at the iconic McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) near Woking. Here at McLaren, we offer hybrid working with 3 days a week based in the MTC.
Our state of the art, sustainable campus offers many facilities including a gym, restaurant and indoor and outdoor break-out areas, as well as direct access to park and common land. The MTC is connected to Woking mainline station via regular shuttle buses, from which London Waterloo is a 30 minute train ride.
