About This Role
We are seeking an EMEA Head of Training for our Commercial Aviation Training (CAT) centres across Europe. This leadership role reports to the Director of Operations & Deputy Accountable Manager for the CAT Approved Training Organisation (ATO). The position involves ensuring all training activities comply with ATO approval, standard processes, and customer contracts, while maintaining high safety, compliance, and training standards.
The Head of Training will oversee training delivery across 16 European centres, managing Managers of Training Services and Training Managers. The role is based in one of our CAT centres in Gatwick, Amsterdam, Madrid, Brussels, Copenhagen, Stockholm, or Milan, with at least 3 days in the office weekly and 30-35% travel.
Key Responsibilities
* Represent CAT EMEA from an ATO perspective.
* Lead regional training functions under EASA and UK CAA regulations.
* Balance training profitability with safety and compliance.
* Manage a team of 6-10 direct reports and additional indirect reports.
* Assess staffing adequacy and qualifications.
* Support and guide Managers of Training Services and Training Managers.
* Ensure training conforms to ATO manuals, SOPs, and syllabi; report discrepancies.
* Set and report on Training Delivery KPIs.
* Develop and optimize ATO policies and processes.
* Act as focal point for training delivery with operations and leadership.
* Ensure training adheres to approved manuals and regulations.
* Manage client training and performance issues.
* Coordinate with Training Design to ensure courseware compliance.
* Promote safety and compliance culture, including SMS and non-compliance reporting.
* Build relationships with key customers and address pilot training concerns.
* Partner with Sales for client needs.
* Travel within Europe (up to 33%) and occasionally internationally.
* Perform other duties related to pilot training safety and compliance.
Qualifications & Experience
* Hold or have held an EASA and UK Part FCL ATPL license within the last 3 years, with related ratings or certificates.
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/qualifications.
* Extensive experience as a professional pilot instructor.
* At least 3 years managing pilot training at an ATO or AOC.
* Knowledge of regulatory requirements for CAT courses.
* Understanding of ATO approval procedures and organizational processes.
