Research Assistant / Electrochemist
As the research assistant/electrochemist, you will be responsible for making and testing batteries and maintaining the lab. You should have strong lab experience and knowledge of lab etiquette, as you will oversee lab operations. Previous experience in electrochemistry and battery assembly is preferred but not essential, as you will have the opportunity to develop these skills working with our senior scientists, provided you have a solid technical background. Battery cell fabrication requires manual dexterity, attention to detail, precision, and the ability to handle small or fragile materials. You should be capable of troubleshooting and solving technical problems independently and managing daily laboratory tasks.
Responsibilities

* Inspect electrode materials, qualify materials, and assemble coin and pouch cells in glovebox environments.
* Conduct battery testing using electrochemical workstations and cyclers.
* Identify and troubleshoot defects or inconsistencies in the assembly process.
* Log and report electrochemical data, perform initial analysis, and suggest improvements.
* Conduct destructive analysis on allocated cells.
* Manage COSHH and SOP documentation.
Qualifications
* A master's degree in chemistry, materials science, or related field, or more than 3 years of relevant lab experience in industry (materials science, electrochemistry, engineering).
* Proficiency with MS Office/Office 365 applications.
* Basic skills with hand tools and labware.
Salary range: £25K - £40K, depending on experience and qualifications.
