Job Summary
Compassionate dietitian with experience working with people with mental illness needed to join the Dunnock View team. The role is part‑time (22.5 hours per week) and is based in Clacton‑on‑Sea. You will support service users in a secure mental health hospital, managing a complex caseload, creating individual nutrition plans, and contributing to specialist treatment pathways in partnership with local community teams.
Responsibilities
* Assess service users’ weight and advise on calories and special meal plans.
* Autonomously manage a complex inpatient and outpatient caseload, applying evidence‑based, person‑focused principles to plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
* Conduct pre‑admission screenings and develop future intervention plans.
* Liaise with the hospital’s catering department to review menus, allergen lists, portion sizes and special menus.
* Support the development and facilitation of group activities and staff training.
* Provide weekly progress reviews and feedback to the multidisciplinary team during ward rounds.
* Deliver one‑to‑one nutrition counselling sessions focusing on eating behaviours, beliefs and attitudes, and exploring stages of change.
* Offer family support sessions to help families understand the relationship between food and health and strategies for home support.
Qualifications
* HCPC registered dietitian.
* BSc in Dietetics or postgraduate diploma in Dietetics.
* Post‑qualification training.
* Experience working with people with disordered eating, ideally in an inpatient setting.
* Knowledge and understanding of patients with mental illness.
* Demonstrated ability to maintain high professional competence.
