The role includes:
- Driving to appointments such as GP visits, hairdresser appointments and other essential errands
- Supporting attendance at activities and outings that promote physical and mental wellbeing, such as gardens, beaches, walking trails, art galleries, exercise classes and dementia-friendly groups
- Assistance with food shopping and meal planning
- Checking medication routines
- Monitoring general wellbeing, personal hygiene and home safety
- Providing social support, encouragement and meaningful engagement in everyday activities
The ideal candidate will be patient, dependable, professional and experienced in supporting older people or those living with dementia. They must be able to maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times and understand the responsibilities involved in supporting a vulnerable adult.
Due to the gentleman's personal circumstances, interests and preferences, a mature male support worker would be particularly welcomed. However, applications from all suitably qualified candidates will be considered.
An Enhanced DBS check and excellent references are essential. The successful applicant must be comfortable working transparently with family members and following agreed safeguarding procedures.
This is a professional support role. The role does not involve management of bank accounts, financial decisions, gifts, loans or personal transactions, and strict professional boundaries are expected at all times.
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are required.The role does not involve handling finances or personal transactions. Close cooperation with family members is expected.
