Reporting to the GroupMedications Services Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations ofMeresides Medicine Technicianteam, ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery. Working closely withthe Senior Medicine Technician and other related service teams, you willimplement the strategic vision set by the Medications Services Manager whilemaintaining operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and exceptionalpatient care. You will ensure effective team deployment, compliance, and continuousquality improvement to help deliver safe, cost-effective, and patient-centredmedicines services.

MeresideMedical is a flourishing group of three East Cambridgeshire practices in Ely,Haddenham and Soham, together serving c.40,000 patients. Ourgoal is to deliver on the ambitions laid out in the GP forward view in a waythat is locally relevant, valued by patients, and satisfying for our staff. Inaddition to our core general practice work we run a large clinical researchtrials unit and we work closely with the ICB to develop innovative ways toimprove local service provision. We are the lead practice for one of the twolocal PCNs and are represented in both.


Job responsibilities

Your Responsibilities Operational Leadership & Service Delivery

* Coordinatethe daily operations of the Medicines Technicians across all sites, ensuringconsistent service standards
* Implementsystems and SOPs for medication processing, queries, and reconciliation,aligned with group-wide best practice.
* Workcollaboratively with clinical pharmacists, GPs, dispensary teams, and PCNpharmacy teams to ensure safe and efficient prescribing practices.
* Supportreconciliation of medicines for new patient registrations and hospitaldischarges.
* Monitorcompliance with repeat prescribing protocols, drug monitoring, and out-of-stockreplacements.

Team Management & Development

* Conductregular 1:1s and annual appraisals with Medicines Technicians to supportdevelopment and performance.
* Identifytraining needs and coordinate individual and team-based learning.
* Supportrecruitment, onboarding, and supervision of new team members.
* Fostera culture of quality, collaboration, and learning within the team.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

* EnsureSOPs are maintained and updated in line with national and local prescribingguidance.
* Conductaudits on prescribing data to monitor safety, escalate findings, and implementpractice improvements.
* Monitorand log medication errors or learning events, working with the GroupMedications Services Manager and Lead GP on follow-up actions.
* Promotemedicines safety through education, escalation, and proactive risk management.
* Workwith the Group Medications Services Manager on workload allocation, rotamanagement, and resource planning.
* Supportthe implementation of consistent, auditable workflows across all Mereside.
* Actas the primary operational link between Medicines Technicians andclinical/dispensary leadership teams.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent


Experience

* At least 3 years experience in medicines-related services in primary, community, or secondary care
* Prior team leadership or supervisory experience
* Strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
* Confident in using data and software tools (e.g., Excel, SystmOne) for reporting and problem-solving
* Committed to clinical governance and continuous improvement
* A collaborative team-player who can foster cross-team relationships
* Prior experience in developing SOPs and leading audits
* Experience working in a multi-site primary care setting
* Leadership or management qualifications or training
