With an increasing dialysis need & the requirement of more satellite dialysis units closer to the patients home, the need for a strong leader is required to manage a team of clinical practice educators to ensure the provision of effective, visible, accessible, specialist leadership and support to the renal nursing team ensuring high quality patient care.
Main duties of the job
· Use highly developed clinical knowledge and skills to provide competencies for all staff ensuring high standards of evidence-based, patient centred care respecting dignity and privacy.
· Provide professional and clinical leadership and expertise in the service and act as a resource for education and clinical expertise.
· Manage the efficient running of the service and its staff on a day-to-day basis.
Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical policies, procedures and guidelines.
Foster an atmosphere conducive to learning in all grades and disciplines of staff.
Act as a change agent and resource for the team whilst monitoring and evaluating standards of care.
Facilitate and organise adequate and appropriate supervision and mentoring for colleagues and students.

Education, Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
* Appropriate Professional Registration with a recognised healthcare body
* Evidence of CPD
* Recognised teaching qualification or working towards
* Completed renal speciality qualification & Leadership course
* Extended clinical skills to include Immediate life support, cannulation, catheterisation, Non invasive ventilation, management of deteriorating patient
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
* Understanding of professional healthcare issues
* The computer skills to design presentations & information booklets.
* Demonstrates motivation and commitment to providing high quality patient centred care and patient education
* Knowledge of clinical governance and experience of risk and Route Cause Analysis management and managing complaints
Desirable criteria
* Significant post registration experience with a minimum of 2 years in the renal specialty
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
* Evidence of ability to act as a proficient healthcare practitioner
* Evidence of ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, patients and visitors
* Evidence of ability and experience in designing and developing educational interventions for healthcare staff and other interested parties
* Ability to act as effective facilitator and clinical supervisor and demonstrates evidence of ability to educate others.
* Ability to effectively prioritise and organise own workload and workload of others.
* Demonstrates the application of evidence-based practice, critical appraisal skills and knowledge of professional issues.

* Ability to make judgements on clinical and professional standards
