We have an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our high-performing commercial team, playing a key role in supporting the successful delivery of projects across our utilities portfolio.
This position sits at the heart of project delivery, working closely with operational and planning teams to ensure projects remain commercially robust, well controlled, and set up for success. As the utilities sector continues to evolve, the role offers the opportunity to contribute to more efficient and sustainable ways of delivering critical infrastructure.
The role will primarily focus on subcontract procurement and management, acting as a central resource supporting the SCS and Thames Water subcontract administration process. Based predominantly at head office, this is a flexible opportunity that may suit someone seeking greater flexibility or looking to transition from a site-based role into a predominantly office-based commercial position.
While advertised as a full-time position, we would also consider part-time applicants, with salary offered on a pro-rata basis.
Here are some of the activities you will be involved in:
1. Producing weekly cost and revenue reports to track commercial performance
2. Controlling submissions of completed jobs and ensuring accurate capture of works delivered
3. Preparing and managing Schedules of Rates for high-volume engineering works
4. Subcontract procurement and negotiation
5. Reconciling subcontractor costs and producing payment certificates
6. Managing subcontract administration processes and contractual compliance
7. Working closely with Operations and Planning teams to monitor progress, variations, and scope changes
8. Reviewing schemes to ensure commercial targets and forecasts remain on track
9. Pricing completed works accurately and efficiently
10. Attending and contributing to client WIP (Work in Progress) meetings
11. Analysing weekly and monthly financial data to support informed decision-making

You are an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a background in utilities or civil engineering and a strong understanding of NEC contracts. You will demonstrate strong commercial awareness, a proactive approach, and confidence in challenging outcomes constructively while supporting effective decision-making.
Strong Excel skills are essential, including confidence using formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs, with a clear focus on accuracy and data integrity. Experience managing subcontractors and supporting high-volume workstreams is highly desirable, alongside in-depth contractual knowledge and experience in subcontract administration.
You will be an effective communicator who builds strong working relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
A full UK manual driving licence is required, with occasional travel to site as needed.
