Support Worker – Oldham
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable and dedicated Support Worker to join a specialist service supporting individuals with varying care, social and independence needs.
In this role, you will promote wellbeing, independence and dignity while providing practical and emotional support in a safe, person-centred environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Support individuals with day-to-day living tasks, community participation and personalised independence goals.
• Build trusting, positive relationships that promote confidence, wellbeing and engagement.
• Provide tailored 1:1 or small-group support, adapting approaches to meet diverse needs including learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions or complex care requirements.
• Work closely with team members, external professionals and families to ensure consistent and safe support.
• Encourage communication, life skills development and social interaction.
• Implement person-centred plans, risk assessments and support strategies.
• Assist with personal care, emotional support, mobility or behavioural strategies where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate notes, observations and safeguarding records in line with service expectations.

Essential Requirements
• Experience within care, support work, SEN, mental health, community support or similar roles.
• A patient, empathetic and person-centred approach.
• Monday–Friday availability (with flexibility for occasional support needs).
• Understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries and duty of care.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred but Not Essential
• Experience supporting individuals with autism, learning disabilities, mental health needs or complex/challenging behaviour.
• Knowledge of person-centred planning, positive behaviour support or independence-focused care.
• Confidence adapting communication (visuals, modelling, simplified language, etc.).
• Familiarity with recording, reporting and support documentation.

Vetting & Compliance
This role requires standard safer recruitment checks including:
• Two years of employment references.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (assistance available).
• Overseas police checks if applicable.
