Female Support Worker

We are working with an exciting organisation that is seeking Female Support Workers in Bethersden, Ashford Kent. You will be supporting one female who lives in her own home, with the aim to work with her to open up her world and experiences. (This post is restricted to women only as a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9 paragraph 1, Equality Act 2010)

You will be working for a national charity supporting people with autism, learning disabilities and mental health needs. They put people at the centre of everything they do, so that they get support that truly meets their needs.

Job Title: Female Support Worker

Location: Bethersden, Ashford Kent

Contract: Full time

Salary: £13 per hour

Hours: This role is shift work: 7.30am-3.00pm, 3pm-10pm, wake night 7.30pm-9.30am, 10pm-7am and long days 7.30am-10.00pm.

About the Role

We are looking for female support workers to join our team for a NEW service in Bethersden, with eight positions available. You will be supporting one female who lives in her own home. She has complex needs with 2:1 support at all times. Our aim is to work with her to open up her world and experiences.

Key responsibilities of the Support Worker include:

Treat the person(s) that you are paid to support with dignity and respect at all times.
Be aware of, and follow the procedure for, reporting any safeguarding concerns or incidents
Keep accurate records
Attend training
Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the people you support and your colleagues.
Work as part of a team and support colleagues to do their jobs.
Drive a car
Undertake any other appropriate duties as required by the people you support or as requested to undertake by others and that are appropriate to your grade.
Perform all duties in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures.

About You

We are looking for someone to join our small team dedicated to supporting people to live their lives, have fun and feel good. You will work closely with the individual and their families to ensure that their time is spent doing the things that matter to them, as well as discovering new things to do.

Your professional and flexible nature will allow you to positively impact on those who you support and the rest of the team around you, allowing you to flourish and develop in this diverse and rewarding role. We will train you to provide personalised support and follow individual support plans to meet the needs and aspirations of the person you are supporting. The focus is developing independent living skills: personal hygiene, meal preparation, exercise, leisure activities, socialising – the daily routine of regular life.

About the Organisation

The organisation is a national charitable Community Benefit Society (CBS) formed in 1984, working across much of England to provide the best possible support to people with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs. They employ around 2,800 staff to support about 1,500 people to live the life they choose. They provide support to individuals based on their own choice and don’t define people by their support needs or the name of a model of service.
