We are hiring for several roles in the Public Sector Reform team. This growing team is responsible for the government’s overarching strategy to reform public services, including:
* Designing and delivering a new £100m programme of community help partnerships;
* Leading government-wide digital reform and transformation;
* Working in partnership with the impact economy.
Exact role responsibilities will depend on business needs and the specific strengths of successful candidates.
This team sits within the wider Public Sector Reform and Efficiency Director General group, which is also responsible for the Test, Learn and Grow innovation programme, Civil Service Reform, and the government’s vision for a Productive and Agile State.
The roles will involve building strong, productive relationships within the DG group, with political colleagues, with teams in other departments and local government who are delivering services and leading reforms, and with a wide range of external stakeholders.
Successful candidates will require:
* Strong interpersonal skills, including the confidence to invite challenge from experts and seniors;
* Openness to innovative approaches from outside government;
* The ability to make clear decisions drawing on diverse evidence and perspectives;
* The ability to clearly communicate these decisions and perspectives in written and verbal advice to seniors and political colleagues.
We are recruiting for several SEO roles in the Public Sector Reform team. Roles will support the team's work in areas such as:
* Designing and launching a new £100m programme of community help partnerships, reforming support for adults facing multiple disadvantages by integrating health, housing, employment, and other services, and enabling better prevention. This is a joint CO-MHCLG initiative designed and delivered in partnership with other departments and Local Authorities. Responsibilities include supporting strategic policy development, programme management, and oversight of governance and stakeholder engagement;
* Secretariat functions for inter-ministerial groups including the Digital IMG, and strategic policy support for the government’s ambition to drive public sector digital and AI transformation;
* Integrating work across the government’s reform agenda into a coherent strategy and narrative;
* Partnering with the impact economy (impact investment, social investment, philanthropy, social enterprises). Responsibilities include supporting the design of CO-led programmes, managing CO’s external communications with the impact economy, and leading Ministerial and senior briefing.
