Assignment

Temporary intern contract for up to 12 weeks


Renumeration

£14.25 per hour including holiday pay


About the internship

We’re offering an exciting opportunity for two Academic Publishing Interns to gain hands‑on experience within a professional publishing environment over the summer break. This internship is ideal for students with an interest in academic publishing, research communication, or careers beyond academia

You’ll work alongside experienced publishing professionals, supporting the development, production and promotion of academic content. This role offers valuable exposure to how scholarly research moves from submission through to publication and dissemination.


What you’ll be doing

Depending on team placement, your responsibilities may include:

* Supporting editorial and publishing teams with day‑to‑day administrative tasks
* Assisting with manuscript tracking, data checks and system updates
* Helping prepare content for publication across digital platforms
* Supporting quality checks and ensuring accuracy of published materials
* Liaising with internal teams to support publishing workflows
* Contributing to project work and process improvements
* Gaining insight into academic publishing operations and career pathways


About you

We’re looking for someone who is based in or near to Bristol and who is curious, organised, and keen to learn.

And also with the following:

* A demonstrable enthusiasm for academic publishing, scientific research, or science communications
* Excellent attention to detail
* Well organised, with good time‑management skills
* A clear communicator who enjoys working collaboratively
* Proactive nature and the ability to work on own initiative
* No prior publishing experience is required—this role is designed as a work experience opportunity.
