Ourinclusive and diverse Pharmacy department has a strong clinical presence in allareas. We have an establishment of over 100 members and enjoy an excellentreputation within the Trust where we provide patient-centred clinical Pharmacyservices to some 400 beds across medical, surgical and specialist areas as wellas a number of outpatient clinics. Weare innovative and forward-thinking and have invested in a host of technicalimprovements, including robotics and state of the art dispensaries and technicalservices. The department is noted to be very friendly, and is constantlylooking to develop and expand. This is an exciting time at Barnsley Hospitalwith the recent implementation of electronic prescribing bringing excellentopportunities for further innovation and service development.
Main duties of the job
Following a thorough and structured induction programme youwill join our team of ward-based clinical pharmacists. The role include:
To participate in theprovision of a full pharmaceutical service to the Cardiology and Respiratorywards.
To practice as a fully registered non-medicalindependent prescriber (following appropriate training).
To develop, implement, monitor and evaluateprotocols and guidelines within the Cardiology and Respiratory specialist areas.

As wellas being able to demonstrate strong leadership and service development skills,you will be able to exercise advanced clinical skills by participating in wardrounds and within MDT discussions. Strong communication skills and team workingis essential as you will be working with a wide range of healthcareprofessionals.

Knowledge and Awareness
 * Extensive knowledge and experience of working within hospital pharmacy.
 * Knowledge of Medicines & Pharmacy Legislation, professional ethics, Health and Safety and the wider Health Service.
 * Knowledge of Clinical Governance, Medicines Management, Risk Management, NICE guidelines, National Service Frameworks, Shared Care Guidelines and the modernisation agenda relevant to the post.
 * Knowledge of theoretical and practical issues, including professional guidelines, related to use of medicines and practice of pharmacy in the specialist areas.
 * Understanding and practical experience of audit.

Qualifications
 * Vocational Masters degree in pharmacy.
 * Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
 * Postgraduate qualification in pharmacy to Diploma level, relevant to post.
 * Junior (supervisory) management training.
Experience
 * Extensive post-qualification experience of hospital pharmacy service delivery, either from employment within the hospital service.
 * Continuing Professional Development to the mandatory requirements of the General Pharmaceutical Council.
 * Training and experience including dispensary services, clinical pharmacy and medicines information.
 * Previous pharmacy teaching experience.
 * Previous experience in staff management.
 * Previous experience in cardiology / respiratory areas.
