Our Cancer Services has an exciting opportunity for a Developmental post for registered Nurses. Commencing as a Band 5 Nurse, working alongside our specialist SACT Nurses and Practice Development Nurses, you will complete a set of competencies, Objectives and the SACT course – All leading to an uplifted permanent Band 6 Specialist SACT Nurse!

Main duties of the job
What is involved?
* Assessing patients prior to commencement of therapy.
* Undertaking Identification of care plans.
* Administering Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy and other Cancer/Haematological treatments including supporting therapy with subsequent support for advice regarding any complications.
* Assessing patients’ health and well-being across a complex and changing caseload of cancer patients.
* Assisting in the delivery of care to meet the individual’s health and wellbeing needs throughout the cancer treatment pathway.
* Assist in maintaining and developing Cancer services and contribute to improvement within the services.

Person specification
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
* Registered nurse with NMC pin
* Degree (working towards)
* Care of Patient receiving Cytotoxic Chemotherapy or willingness to undertake
* ENB 998 or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
* Chemotherapy experience at Band 5 or above
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Cancer standards related to SACT administration
* IV administration
* Management of central lines cannulation & venepuncture
* Administration of blood products
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
