Job Overview
Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children and St Helier Hospital are seeking an experienced Consultant Community Paediatrician with a special interest in Neurodevelopment for a 12‑month fixed‑term locum. The role primarily based at Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children, providing community paediatric services across Merton and Sutton. No on‑call commitments unless desired. Flexible working arrangements welcome.
Key Responsibilities
* Assessment and management of neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, global developmental delay, motor coordination disorder, and complex neurodisability.
* Manage clinics for children with special educational needs and those looked after by the local authority.
* Support in educational paediatrics, including report writing for Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNA).
* Provide medicals for looked‑after children and involvement in safeguarding and child protection.
* Contribution to referral triage and junior doctor teaching sessions.
* Cooperate with multidisciplinary teams including consultants, associate specialists, specialist trainees and clinical nurse specialists.
Person Specification
* Essential Criteria: Registered with the GMC and on the Specialist Register, or within 6 months of obtaining CCT; demonstrable experience in community paediatrics with a special interest in neurodevelopment; safeguarding level 3 training desirable; strong communication skills; commitment to multidisciplinary, patient‑centred care.
* Desirable Criteria: Paediatric experience in secondary care; community paediatric experience in secondary care.
