Your Role
Service Line: Mental Health Adults Rehabilitation (Male)
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist to join Cygnet Oaks. The position is available at Band 5 or Band 6 level, depending on experience and skills.
Post: Band 5 equivalent Occupational Therapist
Salary: £31,317 - £38,122 (full-time, depending on experience)
Post: Band 6 equivalent Occupational Therapist
Salary: £39,015 - £46,981 (full-time, depending on experience)
Site: Cygnet Oaks
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: Fixed-term (12 months, maternity cover)
Start Date: October 2025
About Cygnet Oaks:
Cygnet Oaks is a 35-bed inpatient rehabilitation service for men, specializing in high-support care with a multidisciplinary treatment program aimed at helping individuals regain independence.
Support is provided across two wards, the Lodge and the House, tailored to individual needs and recovery stages.
The Lodge is a 20-bed ward for initial recovery, often stepping down from acute or low secure services. The House is a 15-bed facility for ongoing care, with a dedicated 4-bed step-through service designed to prepare individuals for community placement.
Our multidisciplinary team offers comprehensive programs including occupational therapy, psychology, and psychiatry, supporting service users to stabilize and reintegrate into society.
The occupational therapy department focuses on engaging service users in meaningful activities, overcoming barriers, and developing skills for independence through a structured therapy pathway that adapts to each individual's progress.
Located near Barnsley town centre, the service provides access to local facilities and promotes social inclusion through pathways linking care goals with community activities.
Occupational Therapy Department
Led by our occupational therapy directors, supporting over 150 OTs and 300 OT support staff, we foster a collaborative environment with opportunities for professional development and involvement in service development.
Each service line has a clinical lead OT to develop evidence-based practices and pathways, ensuring our team’s voice is heard in service improvements.

We recognize the importance of comprehensive induction and preceptorship programs to support new team members and ensure high-quality care delivery.
