A well-regarded and forward-thinking secondary school in Camden is seeking an experienced and proactive Premises Manager to lead the management and development of the school’s site and facilities. This is a full-time, permanent leadership role within the support staff structure.

The school is known for its strong academic performance, inclusive ethos, and well-maintained learning environment. The Premises Manager plays a vital strategic and operational role in ensuring the site is safe, secure, compliant, and fit for purpose to support high-quality teaching and learning.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing the premises team, including caretaking and site staff.

  • Overseeing the maintenance, repair, and development of school buildings and grounds.

  • Ensuring full compliance with health and safety legislation, including fire safety, risk assessments, and statutory checks.

  • Managing site security systems, including alarms, CCTV, and access control.

  • Overseeing contractors on site and managing service level agreements.

  • Supporting capital projects, refurbishments, and planned maintenance programmes.

  • Managing premises budgets and monitoring expenditure effectively.

  • Ensuring the school site is prepared for lettings, events, and examinations.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience in premises, facilities, or estates management (school experience desirable).

  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and statutory compliance requirements.

  • Experience managing staff and external contractors.

  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritise and respond effectively to operational demands.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
