Overview
The post holder will be required to prepare and provide training for trainees during their session commitment. The training sessions will be for the core training of specialist trainee’s years 1-3 (ST1, ST2 & ST3) as well as other health professionals such as Radiographers, Sonographers and Physiotherapists. The post holder will form part of the National Imaging Academy Wales (NIAW), working alongside the Consultant Radiologist Trainers, Training Programme Directors, Academy Director and Academy Management team to develop and deliver an Ultrasound training and imaging programme.
The post holder will be a registered Radiographer or Sonographer with a postgraduate qualification in Ultrasound (or equivalent), in-depth practical training, expert knowledge of anatomy and abnormalities, and competence to work autonomously. They will have evidence of CPD, teaching experience, and up-to-date knowledge of ultrasound policy and practice.
Key duties
* Performing and interpreting a range of ultrasound scans (e.g., abdomen, pelvis)
* Providing expert advice to trainees and colleagues
* Supervising clinical training
* Contributing to teaching, research, innovation, CPD events, and NHS Wales service developments
* Operating ultrasound equipment, acquiring optimal images, using IT systems, and communicating complex results clearly and sensitively
* Equipment care, data entry, adherence to policies, participation in audits, maintaining safe working conditions
* Protecting patient confidentiality
* Being accountable for their own clinical and training practice and able to work independently while contributing to the wider aims of the Academy
