Position: Fire and Security Manager Salary: £48,000 - £52,000 Location: Field Based We have an exciting opportunity for a Fire and Security Manager to join our Property Department. The successful candidate will have proven experience within the fire safety and HSE sector, with a strong understanding of compliance and risk management. Who Are Merkur? About you: We are looking for someone with strong communication skills, and a tenacious approach with focus and determination to get the job done effectively. Long standing experience in the fire safety and HSE industry with focus on fire safety. A minimum service history of five years history as a fire officer for a HM Fire Service or within a military or industrial environment is desirable. Knowledge of all relevant regulations/legislation and practical knowledge of how to reach highest possible level of compliance with these. Hands-on and pragmatic approach to prevent and solve issues relating to fire safety and general safety of the estate. Familiarity with tendering, procurement and supplier management, particularly with fire & security contractors. Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team. Excellent communication and organisational skills with ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Appropriate fire safety qualification such as NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety, required. Associate (AIFSM) or Member (MIFSM) of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers, required. NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, desirable. Excellent knowledge in MS Office. Manage/strategise FRA tabletop reviews to maintain fire safety compliance across the estate. Work closely with our fire & security contractors to ensure best working practice, synergy across internal departments, whilst delivering cost-benefit to the business. Report to senior management any risks/hazards that have been identified and to provide guidance as to how these can be managed, as to create safe use of the estate, for all stakeholders. Manage the provision of fire awareness training to all staff at least once annually. Provide guidance to all staff and users of the estate in fire safety and security matters. Liaise with external stakeholders (landlords/insurances/Fire Officers etc) Attend and conduct meetings as and when required. Attend periodic department meetings on agreed dates. Respond positively, promptly and appropriately to all internal and external customer requests. In the event of health and safety issues arising, ensure appropriate action is taken through the company’s health and safety representative or external agencies where appropriate.
