Self-Employed Fibre Splicer (BT Openreach Experience Required)
South East | £25 per THP spliced (minimum 10 per day) | Self-Employed
Introduction
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fibre Splicer with a background working on the BT Openreach network. The successful candidate will be responsible for splicing, testing, and maintaining fibre optic cabling in line with Openreach PIA standards. You will play a key role in ensuring high-quality, efficient fibre builds and service delivery across various MDU projects at communal sites across the South East.
Key Duties
* Splice and test fibre optic cables within communal areas of MDU properties and underground network infrastructure.
* Build and maintain underground fibre optic systems.
* Work safely within confined spaces such as communal risers and chambers.
* Interpret and follow job packs, technical diagrams, and fibre network schematics.
* Perform fibre testing, fault-finding and adhere to Openreach standards.
* Document and report completed work, including as-built records and daily reports.
* Collaborate with supervisors, planners, and engineers to meet project deadlines.
Requirements
* N23/N26 - Fibre Optic Network Build & Splicing (Installation, Splicing, and Testing).
* SA002 - Underground Safety (Confined Space Entry).
* SA020 - Safety within MDUs (multiple dwelling units).
* UKATA Asbestos Awareness.
* Full UK driving licence (no more than six penalty points).
* Splicer/OTDR/GDU/Associated Hand Tools.
* Vehicle to travel to and from sites.
Desirable
* PIA (Physical Infrastructure Access) experience.
* Additional qualifications in fibre optic technologies or network infrastructure.
