A vacancy has arisen for a Flight Lieutenant (Any Profession) to serve as SO3 Sport Delivery in the Directorate of Royal Air Force Sport (DRS) within No 22 Gp at RAF Halton on Full Time Reserve Service (Home Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TcoS), with an initial proposed start date of 02 February 2026. DRS is a 1* pillar within 22 Gp responsible for the delivery of the RAF Sport Strategy and the provision of policy, governance and assurance to 56 sports associations with over 90 different disciplines, and other activities. Policy considerations include alignment with Government, MOD, Sport England and sports’ National Governing Body direction and guidance; appropriate governance includes both public and non-public areas; the safe conduct of sport is in accordance with the RAF Sport Safety Management System, under the Inspector Sport Safety (RAF) model; and propriety of the non-public governance of association sport. The successful applicant will be responsible to SO2 Policy for informing the development and implementation of policy affecting sport for the ‘Whole Force’, with a focus on unit level policy. A key focus will be on the sustainment of Homes for Sport and wider provision of facilities with partners. They will also focus on unit level assurance, alongside SO3 Assurance, conduct PXR reviews from Overseas Visits and be responsible for learning follow up, as directed. The role is located at RAF Halton but there are opportunities for flexible working practices and the successful applicant will be expected to travel to units and other locations for sporting events and fixtures.
