Shrewsbury Primary Care Network Bank Administrator

Shrewsbury Primary Care Network (PCN) has an exciting opportunity for bank administration support across our member practices.


Main duties of the job

This role will offer flexibility and is also a great way to step into the NHS and gain experience with our systems and processes. You will need to be enthusiastic, hardworking and flexible. You will be a self-starter, organised, reliable and an excellent communicator who is able to work with a variety of staff.


About us

Shrewsbury PCN has a collective list size of c.104,000 patients across Shrewsbury and surrounding areas. Our main aims are as follows:

* To address out wider population health needs and health inequalities.
* To ensure patients have access to a larger range of professional groups to aid health issues.
* To make the best use of data and technology available to us.
* To work together more effectively.


Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities that can be expected of the role. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.

* To answer telephone calls and reception desk queries promptly and professionally.
* To coordinate appointment requests for urgent, same day, future and home visit appointments.
* To resolve a wide variety of patient queries received by telephone, in person and in writing. Including: prescriptions, medications, service contacts, specialist referrals, test results, scans and x-rays.
* Identify urgent matters and refer to the clinical team / duty doctor as appropriate.
* To accurately update and monitor patient records including, recording appointments, registration and removal of patients, change of address, correspondence sent / received, service provider updated.
* To deal with patient concerns and complaints in a calm and professional manner.
* To facilitate attendance at clinics / review appointments by assisting with routine monitoring and recalls. Using telephone calls, emails and letter writing.
* To liaise with other healthcare professionals, secretaries and administration teams with regards to coordinating patient care.
* To assist the practices teams with clerical and administrative duties as may be reasonably required. Including: Reports, Registrations, Recalls, Process reviews, Letter writing, Scanning, Read Coding, Auditing.
* To keep up to date with practice information including policy and procedure changes, staff rotas, alerts and service provisions.
* To work as a positive and supportive team member, providing cover for similar posts as required.


Person Specification


Knowledge and Skills

* Strong organisational skills, including planning, prioritising, time management and record keeping
* Ability to work collaboratively, liaising with other stakeholders as needed for the collective benefits of patients
* Ability to recognise and work within limits of competence and seek advice when needed
* Able to prioritise own workload
* Computer efficient with the ability to apply effective IT systems
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent team working skills
* Able to work independently, showing initative
* Knowledge of Primary Care and how it operates
* Able to use Clinical Information systems

Other

* Meet DBS reference standards and criminal record checks

* Ability to travel across the locality on a regular basis


Qualifications

* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent


Experience

* Experience of working in a busy environment
* Experience of working in Primary Care
