About the Role
A busy commercial vehicle workshop in Oxford is looking to recruit a skilled HGV / LCV Technician to join its expanding technical team.
This position involves the inspection, servicing, maintenance, and repair of light and heavy commercial vehicles, ensuring vehicles remain safe, compliant, and roadworthy. The role is suited to technicians who enjoy working with modern diagnostic systems, preventative maintenance programmes, and complex mechanical repairs.
You will be working within a professional workshop environment focused on quality workmanship, safety standards, and efficient turnaround of vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out vehicle servicing, maintenance, and mechanical repairs on commercial vehicles
* Perform vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance checks
* Use advanced diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical and electrical faults
* Repair and replace worn or damaged vehicle components
* Conduct wheel alignment and tyre fitting where required
* Complete accurate service documentation, job cards, and digital workshop records
* Work alongside workshop teams to diagnose and plan vehicle repairs
* Ensure all work is completed in line with DVSA safety and compliance standards
* Maintain high standards of workshop cleanliness and organisation
Candidate Requirements
* NVQ Level 2 / City & Guilds / IMI qualification in HGV or commercial vehicle maintenance
* Proven experience working as an HGV Technician, LCV Technician, or Commercial Vehicle Mechanic
* Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills
* Good understanding of vehicle safety standards and compliance regulations
* Ability to work effectively in a busy workshop environment
* Full UK driving licence required
