Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology – Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
We are looking for a dedicated Ophthalmology Specialty Doctor to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of five Consultant Ophthalmologists and be responsible for the comprehensive management of general ophthalmic problems across a range of clinical settings.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage general ophthalmic conditions, including acute presentations and routine care.
* Participate in all audit projects and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
* Deliver clinical care during on‑call rota and evening clinics, including urgent patient booking.
* Lead junior doctor and medical student supervision, supporting professional development.
* Engage in undergraduate teaching commitments and teaching within wards and clinics.
Work Pattern
* Flexible combination of elective operating lists, outpatient clinics, ward rounds and on‑call duties.
* Sample schedule (subject to change):
* Monday: Paediatrics, SPA Theatre, Injection Clinic, Eye Casualty, PM Injection Clinic
* Tuesday: Oculoplastics, Glaucoma, Eye Casualty, SPA, PM Eye Casualty
Qualifications & Experience
* Some experience in general ophthalmic problems is preferred.
* Experience in audit participation, teaching and junior supervision is desirable.

* Non‑residential post – accommodation subject to availability with charge.
* Full‑time, entry level, Health Care Provider.
