The Role As the Power Systems Capacity and Flexibility Manager, you will: Lead a team of analysts and engineers to assess long-term electricity supply and demand. Oversee technical analysis for resource adequacy planning, including capacity requirements for future auctions. Build team capability through coaching, skills development, and knowledge sharing. Act as a key point of contact for industry trends, providing insights to inform strategic decisions. Represent the organisation at external forums, working groups, and industry bodies. Build strong partnerships with stakeholders, including distribution system operators and third-party providers. Manage a portfolio of projects, ensuring effective planning, budgeting, and risk management. Promote a collaborative, innovative, and proactive team culture. The Person We are looking for someone with: A degree in engineering, economics, mathematics, or a related technical/analytical field, with at least 8 years of relevant experience. Strong understanding of energy markets and/or resource adequacy modelling. Knowledge of energy system flexibility, such as interconnection, energy storage, and techno-economic modelling. Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics to non-technical audiences. Proven experience in leading, coaching, or developing teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on practical solutions. Experience delivering complex projects or programmes successfully. Ability to influence, build consensus, and work collaboratively across teams. Desirable: Experience in the electricity, gas, or wider energy sector. Knowledge of all-island energy policy and the Single Electricity Market. Experience engaging with regulators, policymakers, or external industry groups.
