As DevOps Lead, you will head up a multidisciplinary DevOps team, reporting directly to the Head of Fixed Income Technology and working closely with Architects and Principal Engineers. You will combine hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership, shaping the evolution of infrastructure, DevOps pipelines, and automation frameworks. Your mission will be to ensure that delivery pipelines align with business objectives, while championing innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across all environments.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITLIES
* Architect and implement scalable, secure, and cost-efficient infrastructure.
* Design AWS environments aligned with best practice, governance, and optimisation.
* Research and introduce emerging technologies that enhance infrastructure evolution.
* Build and refine CI/CD pipelines with TeamCity and GitLab.
* Implement Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
* Develop reusable DevOps artefacts that raise the bar across the organisation.
* Enhance monitoring and alerting for proactive incident prevention and rapid resolution.
* Lead, coach, and mentor junior engineers, cultivating a high-performance DevOps culture.
* Partner with IT Architecture and wider DevOps teams to align strategy.
* Leverage delivery metrics to influence roadmaps, planning, and milestones.
* Champion agile delivery using modern collaboration tooling (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
* Ensure compliance with a robust, agile-focused SDLC.
* Oversee environment and release management, including off-hour deployments.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives with a strategic and automation-first mindset.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
* Deep expertise in AWS services with hands-on knowledge of trade-offs in deployment.
* Strong Linux and Windows administration experience.
* Containerisation know-how: Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Istio (desirable).
* Proficiency with CI/CD tooling (TeamCity, GitLab Pipelines).
* Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation.
* Config management: Ansible.
* Experience with GitFlow, SonarQube, automated testing frameworks.
* Skilled in AWS cost optimisation and governance.
* Proven leadership experience within software delivery teams.
* Coaching and mentoring skills to inspire and upskill engineers.
* Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to simplify complexity.
* Excellent planning, estimation, and prioritisation skills.
* Clear, confident communication (written and verbal).
* University degree in Computer Science or related field.
* Relevant DevOps certifications (AWS, Kubernetes, etc.).
