Job Summary:Directs the design and development of outstanding online courses that incorporate best practices from learning theory, instructional design frameworks, and current trends and research in online teaching and learning. Achieves this through close collaboration with external subject matter experts and with Academic Services team members.Job Responsibilities: Collaborate closely with university faculty to design engaging and innovative courses.Apply online learning best practices, relevant learning theories, user-centered design methods, and accessibility standards to enhance faculty courses in terms of effectiveness, technology integration, and student engagement.Quickly learn and translate complex content into learning experiences for students.Inform design approaches by staying current on research, trends, and student feedback.Build rapport and credibility with faculty members virtually, offering creative consultation and guiding them through the course development process.Support Program Strategy Manager in providing expertise to faculty and school administration in web technologies, Learning Management System use, online best practices, and other areas as needed.Maintain openness to experimentation and identify opportunities for enhancing student learning, faculty experience, business impact, and client relationships.Manage course development to ensure timely delivery within scope.Verified strategic agility with the capacity to understand the student journey, market trends and challenges, and synthesize them into a clear concise development plan.Working collaboratively with third-party vendors to ensure alignment of storyboards and learning content, developing successful learning journeys that meet academic program requirements.Develop and adhere to comprehensive project plans, meeting deadlines, and adhering to established processes while proactively communicating needs, status, and deadlines to internal and external stakeholders. Efficiently address and escalate issues as needed.Job Requirements:A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, learning sciences, curriculum & instruction, or related field.Minimum of 1 year experience as a learning designer or instructional designer in higher education, or 2 years of work experience with a strong background in corporate eLearning design, learning theory, and online instruction.Adeptness with and enthusiasm for working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Blackboard, Canvas, Brightspace, or Moodle and related technologies. Facility with synchronous and asynchronous online collaboration.Comfortable interacting with individuals at all management levels, demonstrating professional oral and written communication skills when presenting ideas to academics, vendors, and leadership.Demonstrated strong leadership skills to influence and motivate cross-functional teams, fostering cooperation and engagement in support of overarching learning strategies and execution.Ability to confidently guide subject matter experts through the design process, ensuring adherence to deadlines for the creation of effective and engaging online courses.Builds rapport by adapting personal communication style to meet the attitudes, interests, needs, and perspectives of others.Results-oriented, adaptable, and flexible with a keen attention to detail, focusing on execution and effectively responding to change.Actively seeks development opportunities and takes responsibility for personal growth.
