Job Overview
As part of the Occupational Health team, the post holder will support the department in delivering high‑quality, comprehensive and proactive Occupational Health services. Responsibilities include vaccinations, venepuncture, pre‑employment health assessments, liaising with staff and managers, and assisting in day‑to‑day management and organisation of OH services.
Responsibilities
* Assist the OH Senior Clinic Nurse in the day‑to‑day management and provision of OH services to the Trust and other customers.
* Manage and prioritise own workload, ensuring timely delivery of OH services.
* Work effectively as a team member, demonstrating good personal communication skills and promoting excellent interdisciplinary relationships.
* Follow the Trust Medicines policy and departmental policies, including PGD/WI for safe storage, administration and disposal of immunisations/medication.
* Participate in occupational health activities such as vaccinations, venepuncture and health assessments.
Qualifications
Education:
* Registered Nurse, Part 1/12
Experience:
* Significant post‑qualification experience, including acute hospital settings.
* Sound understanding of personal and professional accountability.
* Ability to work to challenging timescales and deliver effective results.
* Flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances.
* Excellent team working skills.
* Desire to explore new ways of delivering services.
* Desirable: Occupational Health experience.
Communication:
* Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
* Ability to facilitate and support learning in practice.
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook e‑mail.
* Desirable: Experience delivering teaching sessions and presentations.
Clinical Skills:
* Client‑centred care.
* Competent venepuncture skills.
* Competent vaccination/injection skills (e.g., intramuscular injections).
* Desirable: Knowledge of immunisation programmes.
* Desirable: Knowledge of health promotion programmes.
* Desirable: Ability to think laterally, creatively and innovatively to enhance client care.
