A Radiology Healthcare Assistant works along side and supports radiologists, radiology nurses, and radiographers in the radiology department. The role also involves assisting with patient care and imaging procedures. They work closely with other department and other members of the multidisciplinary team. This role involves a range of responsibilities, including patient preparation, assisting with sterile procedures, maintaining the department's cleanliness and organisation, and most importantly, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
The candidate will be expected to work across all Trust sites.
You will need be well organized with good communication skills and have a good grasp of IT. A sympathetic attitude to patients is essential ensuring safe and compassionate care. You will need to be able to cope with distressing and often challenging situations while prioritising your workload.
The department is very busy performing over 250,000 examinations per annum including ultrasound, plain films, CT, MRI, biopsies and treatment procedures.
Main duties of the job
• To assist the registered nurse in the delivery of high quality and person-cantered care.
• To provide fundamental nursing care, e.g., assistance with personal hygiene, eating and drinking, mobility needs, washing under direct or indirect supervision.
• To carry out limited clinical observations and undertake a range of activities under direct or indirect supervision by a registered nurse, having been assessed as deemed competent in the activities required.
• To maintain high clinical standards
• To help maintain a clean and safe ward environment.
• To contributes towards the department and organisation in the provision of a safe and caring environment.
Key working relationships include all members of the multi-professional team, including nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and relevant support workers.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Desirable criteria
1. Level 2 or Level 3 (NVQ) in health and Social Care or equivalent relevant experience
2. Willing to work towards Level 2 functional skills (Math & English)
3. Care Certificate/working towards
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
4. Experience of working with people, ideally in a front-line customer service role
