Multi Skilled Production Engineer

3 Shift Pattern
Scantec a recruiting for a proactive Maintenance Engineer who can maximise production efficiency through effective inspection, maintenance and rapid resolution of equipment issues. You’ll play a key role in preventing unplanned downtime, maintaining factory services, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.
Alongside hands-on engineering work, you’ll support and coach production teams, helping to improve equipment understanding, reliability and overall performance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Proactively support all health, safety and quality initiatives across the site
2. Communicate effectively with management, production and maintenance teams across all shifts
3. Develop and support predictive and planned maintenance systems for production equipment
4. Maintain safe, reliable and cost-effective factory utilities
5. Improve factory efficiency through effective repair, maintenance and enhancement of plant and facilities
6. Ensure accurate maintenance records and clear communication with your line manager
7. Maintain strong technical knowledge through manuals, training and development
8. Train, coach and motivate production teams to improve equipment knowledge and performance
9. Maintain and develop maintenance resources, including stores, workshop, documentation and systems
10. Regularly walk production lines, addressing defects immediately or scheduling repairs as appropriate
11. Positively lead, challenge and promote a strong site culture
Skills & Technical Knowledge
12. Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
13. Maintenance planning and prioritisation
14. Predictive maintenance and condition-based monitoring
15. Health & Safety systems, including permit to work
16. Continuous improvement and problem-solving tools
17. Machine control systems programming and diagnostics
18. Good IT skills
19. Strong communication and teamworking ability
20. Coaching and mentoring capability
Minimum technical requirements:
21. Mechanical competency for electrical engineers
22. IPAF Scissor Lift licence
23. Basic welding skills
24. PLC introductory knowledge
Qualifications & Experience
25. NVQ Level 3 or recognised engineering apprenticeship in plant maintenance
26. ONC in Engineering or demonstrable equivalent knowledge
27. Good understanding of safety and environmental regulations
28. Minimum 4 years’ experience in an engineering environment or strong plant operational background
29. Solid knowledge of factory plant, processes and equipment
