Job overview
We wish to appoint an inspiring and dedicated senior leader from January 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter, to join our enthusiastic and forward-looking Senior Leadership Team at this welcoming and highly successful girls' independent school. This is an opportunity to work in a school with motivated pupils who have great fun whilst pursuing excellent academic results and a very supportive ethos.
It is expected that the Deputy Head – Pastoral will ideally be a practising Catholic in good standing with the Church and, together with the Senior Leadership Team, will help to maintain and develop the School's Catholic mission, ethos, values, and spiritual life, alongside contributing to the overall management and provision of Religious Education and collective worship. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of these in a Catholic school context. They will also wish to undertake further professional development (both in school and possibly via further study) to develop their experience and skills for this post and in readiness for a headship in due course. Some rotation of roles and responsibilities within the SLT can be expected from time to time to ensure all the Senior Leadership Team develop to their full potential.
The successful candidate will lead our Pastoral team, as well as taking on other whole-school responsibilities and sharing the day-to-day running of the School. Precise responsibilities will depend on the strengths and aptitudes of the successful candidate.
We are looking for someone with significant pastoral experience with girls (e.g. as Head of Sixth Form or Key Stage) who is used to liaising with parents and supporting pupils and staff. Energy, attention to detail and motivation to see projects and initiatives through to completion are all required.
We offer a competitive salary and a supportive environment in which to further your skills in preparation for headship.
There is auto-enrolment into the School's defined contribution pension scheme, free on-site parking, remission of fees for a daughter attending the School (in line with the current policy, subject to the usual standards and procedures for admission), and 'Death in Service' benefits.
