WORKING HOURS: 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday

As Palmer Construction continues to expand across the energy sector, a fantastic new opportunity has arisen for a Civils / Construction Estimator to join the pre-construction team.
As a Civils / Construction Estimator you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, tender submissions and supporting the successful delivery of high-value civil engineering and construction projects.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Civils / Construction Estimator include:
Preparing Bills of Quantities: Take off measurements and extract details from specifications
Preparing Cost Estimates: Use first principles pricing methods and financial analysis
Tender Programmes: Develop detailed tender programmes to support bids
Adjudication Meetings: Attend with the Commercial Director before bid submission
Quotation Letters: Draft accurate letters detailing tender offers
Supply Chain Management: Evaluate and manage supplier enquiries for quotations
Value Engineering: Provide input into project risk and value engineering initiatives
Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, consultants and designers
Project Support: Assist project delivery teams with accounts and variations
Meetings Attendance: Represent Palmer Construction at internal, commercial and client meetings, including site visits
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of HNC in construction (or equivalent)
Previous experience of working in an estimating role within construction, ideally with civil projects
Strong knowledge of first principles pricing techniques and SMM7 method of measurement
Proficient in estimation software such as ConQuest (or similar) and MS Office including Project
Ability to interpret drawings and specifications accurately
Strong analytical, numerical and negotiation skills with attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a flexible, problem-solving approach
A background in construction contracts
A full, clean UK driving licence
