We’re looking for a Junior Software Engineer to contribute to the design and delivery of high-quality control system software solutions across a range of client projects. You’ll undertake software design activities involving PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems, ensuring your work is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction. You’ll play an important role in maintaining compliance with our Quality Management and Health, Safety and Environmental systems, while also identifying opportunities to enhance software design practices and improve internal processes. You will: Be responsible for completing allocated Software Engineering activities on specified projects across the business. Recommend best practice software engineering processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance Act as a Team member on multi discipline teams. Take ownership of the allocated Software Engineering activities. Provide technical support to the business development, estimating and onsite engineering teams Be responsible for overseeing all allocated aspects of software and system design, from contract award to handover Take part in the the preparation of technical and contract documentation for issue and analysis of returned tenders Report on Software Engineering activities and processes on a regular basis to the Systems Manager Software Ensure that Environmental, Health and Safety, Engineering and Quality standards and procedures are adhered to Take part in Software Resource Planning and Management Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimising cost Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on engineering activities Support the Sales team in developing product specification and quote activities Appraise and interprete client requirements to ensure that technical, legislative and commercial aspects are delivered on each project Liaise and coordinate with clients, members of the engineering team and contractors on technical and commercial issues. We are looking for: Experience and Knowledge Educated to at least HNC level in relevant engineering discipline able to demonstrate capability of MOD Security cleared to at least SC level. At least six years of software development experience in a project environment with a proven track record of delivering successful systems. Experience of operating within an ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 18001 environment. Experience using Software Packages relevant to the role of a Software Engineer i.e PLC, HMI, SCADA. To be considered for this role you will be required to: Pass DBS and BPSS check. Have a minimum of 2-1 degree in a relevant subject. Be a UK National (no dual passports). Have lived in the UK for the last 5 years. Have no spent or current criminal convictions. Be prepared to work in the Nuclear defence sector. Experience in regulated industry (preferred).
