Consultant Psychiatrist – AMH, Treatment & Intervention

Job Summary
The Consultant will lead the Community Treatment and Intervention Team and the Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) team at Parkside Community Mental Health Centre. The role requires committed, proactive and responsive clinical leadership, supervision of specialty and foundation doctors, nurse prescribers and other staff, and active involvement in personalised care planning and complex patient review processes.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership for the Community Treatment and Intervention Team and the EIP team.
* Supervise specialty doctors, foundation doctors and nurse prescribers.
* Deliver medical input to the Treatment & Intervention team, conduct joint reviews for complex, unstable and high‑risk patients, and contribute to formulation and review meetings.
* Act as Responsible Clinician for patients on Community Treatment Orders (CTO) and Minors Order, and conduct Mental Health Act assessments in the community, including occasional Section 136 assessments.
* Attend daily Huddle, weekly Supercell meetings and other team meetings (e.g., Huddle, Supercell).
* Access and provide expert advice from Trust‑wide specialist services, such as the Tertiary Treatment and Intervention team, ADHD service, Autism Spectrum Assessment Team, Perinatal Team and eating disorder service.
* Lead assessments for new patients, follow‑up reviews, diagnosis and development of treatment plans.
* Provide appropriate supervision to Junior Medical Staff and Non‑Medical Prescribers.
* Participate in on‑call rota (frequency 1:18) covering all mental health units in Teesside, including AMH, CAS, acute hospitals and community MHA assessments.
Qualifications
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment.
* MRCPsych or equivalent postgraduate qualification (desirable).
* Approved Clinician Status and Section 12 Status, or ability to achieve within 3 months (desirable).
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management (desirable).
Professional Experience & Skills
* Experience in chronic or severe mental health conditions, community and EIP settings.
* Demonstrated leadership within multidisciplinary teams and ability to influence and persuade to improve services.
* Excellent clinical skills using a bio‑psycho‑social perspective.
* Strong communication skills (oral and written) in English.
* Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty, making decisions based on evidence and experience.
* Knowledge of NHS structure and quality improvement methodologies (lean, MHA, MCA).
Remuneration & Contract
* Grade: Consultant
* Salary: £109,725 to £145,478 per year (Hospital medical and dental staff pay scheme).
* Contract: Permanent, Full‑time (Flexible working).
