As we continue to grow, we are seeking a motivated
Associate Town Planner
to join our small but ambitious team. This role offers the flexibility of remote or hybrid working, while remaining connected to Cornwall's unique planning landscape.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a varied caseload of planning projects from inception to delivery, including applications, appeals, and local plan representations.
* Provide professional planning advice to clients across residential, rural, commercial, and community sectors.
* Undertake site appraisals, policy analysis, and prepare high-quality planning reports and statements.
* Engage with local authorities, stakeholders, and communities to support collaborative outcomes.
* Contribute to the preparation and management of planning applications, including coordinating consultants and technical inputs.
* Support senior colleagues in business development, client care, and mentoring junior staff (if applicable).
* Keep up to date with changes in planning legislation, policy, and best practice.
Skills & Experience
* RTPI Chartered Membership (or working towards chartership).
* Minimum 3–5 years' relevant planning experience, ideally within consultancy or local authority.
* Strong understanding of the planning system, policies, and procedures, with particular awareness of Cornwall's planning context.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and persuasive reports.
* Confident in client-facing situations, with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
* Self-motivated and organised, able to manage deadlines across multiple projects.
