About this opportunity
Cumberland Council is looking for a Senior Bridge Engineer to take a leading role in the management, maintenance and improvement of our bridges and highway structures. Working within our Highways Bridges and Structures team, you will act as the professional lead in your specialist area, providing high‑quality technical design advice and overseeing complex projects from inspection through to delivery. You will manage and mentor a small team of engineers, commission and supervise surveys and designs, monitor project progress, and ensure all work meets national standards, regulatory requirements (including CDM) and best practice.
This role is available on a permanent basis.
Who we’re looking for
We’re seeking a professionally accredited engineer, typically CEng or IEng, with a relevant degree (or equivalent), strong current experience in bridge and structures design to DMRB and Eurocodes, and excellent communication skills.
