This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain middle‑grade experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics at Northampton General Hospital. The post offers broad exposure across trauma and elective orthopaedics, including ward work, clinics, theatres, and on‑call commitments. You will join a supportive, well‑established team with opportunities for teaching, audit, and quality improvement, and encouragement to progress toward the FRCS examinations.
The position is a fixed‑term contract of 6 months with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out elective clinics and elective theatres.
* Attend and manage fracture clinic sessions.
* Participate in trauma operating lists.
* Engage in a 1:10 on‑call rota with prospective cover.
* Attend Friday afternoon protected training sessions and governance meetings.
* Work closely with consultants and receive one‑to‑one informal tuition.
* Receive overall supervision from a nominated consultant who assesses capabilities and monitors progress.
Requirements
* Demonstrable dedication to orthopaedics with a validated logbook.
* Commitment to continued professional development and preparedness to sit the FRCS examinations.
