Attendance Leader

South Bristol

Job Type: Temporary, Full-time

Working Hours: 8am-4pm

Salary: £18-£20 per hour, depending on experience

Our client is seeking an experienced Attendance Leader to lead their school's attendance team and oversee all operations related to student attendance. This role is crucial in ensuring students' consistent attendance and punctuality, which are key to their academic success. The position is available to start as soon as possible for an ongoing temporary assignment. A DBS check is required.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

* Lead and manage the attendance team, including the attendance administrator.
* Oversee the tracking of daily student attendance and punctuality using the school's Bromcom system.
* Identify patterns of low attendance, persistent absence, and lateness, and intervene early to address these issues.
* Develop strategies and specific intervention plans to improve poor attendance.
* Ensure the prompt completion of first-day calling/text systems.
* Support the monitoring of attendance for alternative provision, dual registered students, and long-term absences.
* Maintain accurate attendance records and ensure correct coding of absences.
* Produce detailed attendance reports for senior leaders, local authorities, governing bodies, and external agencies.
* Analyse attendance trends to identify high-risk students and key groups requiring additional support.
* Manage data returns for statutory school census and penalty notice processes.
* Work directly with pupils to address barriers to attending school, including academic, social, emotional, or external factors.
* Communicate regularly with parents/carers regarding attendance concerns and support options.
* Build and maintain strong home-school relationships to encourage positive attendance habits.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

* Proven experience in an attendance-related role within a school setting.
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Proficiency in using school management systems like Bromcom.
* Ability to analyse data and produce meaningful reports.
* Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and staff.
