Actemium Automation is looking for an experienced Senior Control Systems Engineer to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a strong background in control systems engineering, who enjoys a mix of on-site and home working.
️ What You’ll Do:
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design, testing, and commissioning of control systems for one of our most valued clients, working closely with the customer and internal teams to ensure exceptional delivery.
Your day-to-day will include:
1. Lead and manage the design, review, and testing of control systems, ensuring they meet both customer requirements and industry legislation.
2. Act as the primary point of contact for customers and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and efficient project execution.
3. Design, test, and commission control systems in line with agreed specifications, industry standards, and health & safety requirements.
4. Oversee onsite commissioning and testing of systems, ensuring adherence to site-specific regulations and quality standards.
5. Supervise and provide technical guidance to system design, build, and installation teams.
6. Support Project Managers with project planning, effort estimation, and tracking project progress.
7. Contribute to tendering processes, including cost estimation and creating technical proposals.
8. Proactively identify and implement improvements to internal processes, driving efficiency across projects.
9. Serve as a technical expert in nominated fields, offering mentorship and support to junior engineers.
What you bring:
10. Qualifications: HNC/HND/Degree in a relevant discipline with at least 10 years of experience in systems integration (or 15+ years with lower qualifications).
11. Experience: Extensive experience in PLC-based control system architecture and programming (PLC, HMI, SCADA).
12. Industrial control systems, including control panel design, C&I system design, and commissioning.
13. Compliance with machinery safety design and relevant industry standards.
14. Onsite commissioning of complex industrial control systems.
15. Preferred Sectors: Experience in Food, Pharmaceutical/Fine Chemical, and Material Handling/Logistics industries is advantageous.
16. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers and internal teams.
17. Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
18. Self-motivated, with a keen willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges.
19. Ability to mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
20. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, balancing both company and individual goals.
